Kia Safety Tech: Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)Nov 20th, 2020
What is LKAS?
Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) is among one of Kia’s award-winning list of safety features. Helping millions of drivers stay safe on their daily commute. A mounted camera on your front windshield detects road lane markings and identifies if you are driving within your lane or not. If it detects that you are drifting into another lane it first provides a warning by vibrating the steering wheel as well as an audio and visual cue on the dashboard. If you continue drifting into the other lane, the system will take preventative action and will use the electronic power steering system to guide you back into your lane safely.
How Does the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) Work?To activate Kia’s LKAS you will need to do the following:
Press the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) button located on the driver's side panel left of the steering wheel. The system will now be active and will keep you within your lane as necessary.
Here is a great video from Kia Canada explaining the LKAS system in detail.
