Versus the Chevrolet Equinox EV
The Chevrolet Equinox EV is a slightly larger SUV than the more compact 2025 Kia Niro, which does give it a bit more passenger and cargo room. However, this highlights how the Kia Niro EV is a much better commuter vehicle, better at navigating city streets, and offering more maneuverability on the road. The Niro also packs in more standard features, such as a power liftgate, rain sensing wipers, and heated front seats.
Versus the Volkswagen ID.4
For starters, the 2025 Kia Niro EV is less expensive than Volkswagen’s comparable ID.4, by as much as $1,000 for the base model. This while offering comparable horsepower and range. Once again, the Niro offers additional standard conveniences, such as the power liftgate and a power driver seat. Plus, the Niro has an optional head-up display, a technology Volkswagen hasn’t managed to incorporate yet.
Versus the Hyundai Kona EV
The Hyundai Kona EV has the opposite issue to the Equinox – it’s much smaller than the 2025 Kia Niro, and it feels like it. Space is at a premium inside, and that affects the comfort of the ride. While the Kona does offer impressive range, it’s somewhat underpowered, with only 133 horsepower compared to the Niro’s 201 hp. Once again, the Niro’s impressive assortment of standard and optional features also sets it apart from Hyundai’s Kona.
