More Than the Basics for Youth at Threshold Housing
The Kia Closet, a collaboration between Kia Victoria and Threshold Housing Society, helps youth in Greater Victoria access more than just the basics—providing opportunities for confidence, creativity, and belonging.
At Kia Victoria, we believe giving back isn’t just about covering needs — it’s about helping people thrive. That’s why in 2025, we launched a new initiative with our friends at Threshold Housing Society: the Kia Closet.
What Is the Kia Closet?
Threshold Housing provides youth in Greater Victoria with safe housing and the essentials they need. But we wanted to go further — to help these young people feel confident, included, and celebrated.
The Kia Closet is a fund dedicated to fulfilling the “wants” in life, not just the needs. It’s about those little extras that make a big difference, like:
- A graduation up-do and professional make-up
- Karate lessons or a music program
- A coveted hoodie or a pair of brand-new sneakers
- Books or art supplies that inspire imagination and growth
These are not luxuries. They are about dignity, joy, and belonging. They help young people feel like they fit in, build confidence, and see brighter possibilities ahead.
Why It Matters
Basic needs like food and shelter are essential, but they’re not the whole story. For teens and young adults, having the chance to join in, feel proud of what they’re wearing, or participate in activities alongside their peers can be life-changing.
The Kia Closet gives youth at Threshold Housing those opportunities — the chance to not just get by, but to truly thrive.
Our Commitment to Community
The Kia Closet is just one part of Kia Victoria’s ongoing commitment to supporting the community we call home. From the 10,000 Socks Campaign, to the Fill Your Ride Food Drive, to sponsoring local sports teams across Vancouver Island, we are proud to stand alongside the charities and organizations that make a difference.
But the Kia Closet is special because it reflects what we believe at our core: that everyone deserves the chance to feel included, confident, and celebrated.
