Charities We Support

At Kia Victoria, we believe supporting those around us is integral to who we are. We strive to be impactful members of Southern Vancouver Island, making a meaningful difference to our whole community.

The staff, owners, and their families all make Victoria their home. We look after our community because it’s our community too… which is why we support local charities and organizations with our monthly fundraisers, sponsorships, and campaigns.

We are proud to live here and strive to be a part of making Victoria the best place in the world to live, for everyone.

CURRENT CHARITY CAMPAIGN

The All NEW FILL-YOUR-RIDE Food Drive!!!

We are so excited to announce that we are once again doing our ever popular annual Kia Victoria FOOD DRIVE! The Food Drive formerly known as Soul Food, is swinging high into 2024 with a new name and a new vibe. Introducing.... the Kia Victoria FILL-YOUR-RIDE FOOD DRIVE!! See what we've done there? Telluride... Fill Your Ride... Regardless, with the retirement of the Kia Soul this year, it seemed time for a new name, but same great campaign.

So what's it all about?

Help Us Fill a Ride for the Mustard Seed Food Bank!

February is often a challenging month for food banks. After the surge of holiday donations in December, the new year usually sees a significant drop off in both volunteer support and contributions. This leaves the shelves of many food banks bare, making it a particularly tough time for those in need. This is why we're launching a special initiative — we're aiming to fill an entire Kia Telluride with non-perishable food items and personal necessities to donate to the Mustard Seed Food Bank.

The Mustard Seed Food Bank's Urgent Needs

The Mustard Seed Food Bank has specifically requested some essential items. These include toiletries, baby food, toilet paper, bath supplies, diapers, feminine hygiene products, and protein-filled non-perishable food. These items are indispensable for many families, yet they are often overlooked in donations. By focusing on these items, we aim to help the food bank meet the needs of those it serves effectively.

Filling a Kia Telluride

A Kia Telluride, with its generous cargo space, provides an excellent opportunity to make a significant contribution to the food bank. Our goal is to fill this vehicle with as many essential items as possible. This means we need your help. Each can, each box, each package that you donate brings us one step closer to achieving this goal.

Making Thoughtful Donations

While all donations are appreciated, certain items can make a huge difference. Consider donating items that would make someone's day special. For instance, birthday cake mix and icing are not essential items, but they can bring joy to a family celebrating a birthday in tough times. These thoughtful donations can make a big difference in the lives of those in need.

Donation Details

Donations can be made by dropping off items in our showroom from now until February 28, 2024. Every contribution, no matter its size, will help us fill the Kia Telluride and, more importantly, help fill the shelves of the Mustard Seed Food Bank. Let's come together and make a difference.

VICTORIA ADMIRALS HOCKEY CLUB

We believe every child deserves the chance to play sports. And nothing is more Canadian than hockey!

And so this year we donated to several Victoria Admirals Hockey Club teams to help pay for tournaments, referees, and incidentals. We wish the Victoria Admirals a fun goal-filled 2023-2024 season! Go Admirals!

VICTORIA KINGS HOCKEY

We helped purchase new jerseys for the entire club, helping them retire their tired and worn old gear. We wish the Victoria Kings a fun goal-filled 2023-2024 season, looking sharp in their new gear! Go Kings!

PAST CHARITY CAMPAIGNS

4th ANNUAL 10,000 SOCKS CAMPAIGN

Our 10,000 Socks campaign was a huge success! Our fourth annual campaign brought our 2023 charitable giving year to a close.

For every $1 you donated, 1 new pair of warm socks was purchased and given to someone in need. And with our matching campaign, $1 bought 2 pairs of socks! This is one charity champaign where $1 makes a huge difference.

This year was especially touching as Ecole Willows Elementary School joined our efforts and raised $1124 in less than one week. What a team!

We often take it for granted but foot health is vitally important. And for people experiencing extreme poverty and homelessness, that importance is amplified. Old shoes, hours spent walking, shared showers, and pre-existing health conditions, like diabetes, all contribute to a variety of foot issues that are hard to manage and treat. Now, imagine those same conditions coupled with the cold, wet winter weather that is so common on Vancouver Island at this time of year, and the need to protect your feet becomes even more crucial.

Each year our goal is to raise $10,000 to buy 10,000 pairs of warm high-quality socks for people who are un-housed and in need in our region. The socks are distributed through 25 organizations from Nanaimo to Victoria, including on Salt Spring Island. Any funds raised over $10,000 goes towards much needed winter clothing and accessories.

Kia Victoria matches donations up to $5000, whether you donate at the dealership or online at https://coolaid.org/socks/.

In just four years, we helped raise $77,529 for socks, clothing, and other necessities, exceeding our goal by 193%! In 2023, we helped raise $23,856!!!

RED CROSS CARWASH

We held a Car Wash to raise much needed funds for the Red Cross BC Fires Appeal. We raised over $800 in donations. Kia Victoria then MATCHED those donations bringing the total to $1600, which went straight to help the BC Red Cross.

In total we donated $1600!

2022 10,000 SOCKS Campaign

Our third annual 10,000 Socks campaign was a HUGE success once again. Together, we helped raise almost $23,673 for Cool Aid Victoria!!!

Each year out goal is to raise $10,000 to buy 10,000 pairs of warm high-quality socks for people who are un-housed and in need in our region. The socks are distributed through 25 organizations from Nanaimo to Victoria, including on Salt Spring Island. Kia Victoria matches donations up to $5000. We were thrilled to see so many people rounding up their service bill, or tagging $5 onto their car purchase... and we matched every single one! This is one charity champaign where $1 makes a huge difference.

Thanks to generous donors, the campaign has distributed 132,500 pairs of socks to
thousands of people since its inception in 17 years ago. Cool Aid purchases the socks from PVH Legwear Canada at a deeply discounted price and La-Z-Boy Victoria donates the shipping. Anything over $10,000 goes towards much needed winter clothing and accessories.

In total we helped raise $23,673! That's 10,000 pairs of socks, and over $13,000 worth of warm layers and clothing necessities for those in need.

RED CROSS CARWASH

We held a Car Wash to raise much needed funds for the Red Cross Hurricane Fiona in Canada Appeal. We raised over $650 in donations. Kia Victoria then MATCHED those donations bringing the total to $1300. THEN the Government of Canada matched all donations, so in the end we donated an incredible $2600 to disaster relief! The power matching in action!

The Canadian Red Cross is working to get help to people in and around affected areas as quickly as possible and provide humanitarian assistance for new needs as they arise. Money raised will enable the Red Cross to carry out relief, recovery, resiliency and risk reduction activities in and beyond the region at the individual and community levels.

In total we raised over $2600!

POWER TO SUMMIT 2023

One of our favourite charity campaigns comes around every May... and we look forward to participating each year! We entered two teams and raised an incredible $13,550!

The POWER TO BE is an amazing local charity that gives those who most need it a chance to experience the best of nature. Check them out:  https://powertobe.ca/ Over the course of three days, teams worked together to cumulatively summit 5959m, the equivalent elevation of Mt Logan. Racers can gain elevation anywhere. Climb the stairs, a hiking trail, an inclined street, or a hill in your neighbourhood. That’s 42.5 trips up Mount Tolmie, if you’re looking for perspective.

In total, we were part of raising over $332,000 for this amazing charity!

SOUL FOOD 2023

TOY AND FOOD DRIVE

This year we were honored to participate in the CHEK Christmas Drive-thru and Telethon. We donated $1000 worth of toys and food purchased locally at Country Grocer and Kaboodles, plus a cheque for $1500.

These programs run out of the Next Steps Resource CentreHigh Point Community Church, and Connection Point Resource Centre.

We donated $1500 and $1000 worth of toys and food.

PISE SPORTAGE

Recognized as a passionate, innovative leader in their field, The Pacific Institute for Sports Excellence transforms lives through physical activity and sport by providing facilities, education and leading programs for children, youth and adults of all levels and abilities. Homegrown and locally run, we supported PISE with an $8000 donation towards a new Kia Sportage to help them travel reliably and better support Greater Victoria.

We donated $8000!

POWER TO SUMMIT

Once again, we were so proud to be participating in Power to Be's POWER TO SUMMIT annual fundraiser! This home-grown charity is near and dear to our hearts. We entered three teams and raised an incredible $9247.14, 50% more than our goal!

The POWER TO BE is an amazing local charity that gives those who most need it a chance to experience the best of nature. Check them out:  https://powertobe.ca/ POWER TO SUMMIT 2022 pitted team against team to see who could gain the equivalent elevation of Mount Everest the fastest in just three days. That’s 44 trips up Mount Douglas, if you’re looking for perspective.

In total, we raised over $9200!!

SOUL FOOD 2022

Our Annual Soul Food Campaign took us through to the end of March this year, and we filled two Kia Soul's to the sunroof will nonperishables and personal products for the whole family.

Food banks like the Mustard Seed are needed post-holidays more than ever. It's a time when donations drop dramatically after the winter break. The pandemic has resulted in a much greater need than ever before from individuals and families that would not otherwise need the services of a food bank.

Throughout the month of January and February, we collected non-perishable food and and cash donations for the Mustard Seed Victoria. We matched every $5 donation we receive in our service department. If you donated $5, we matched it. If you donated nonperishable food items, we’ll donated $5!

We donated $2500 to the Mustard Seed... and drove over 2 Kia Souls FULL TO THE SUNROOF with food!

10,000 SOCKS CAMPAIGN, 2021 EDITION

We are thrilled to announce that together WE RAISED OVER $30,000 for Cool Aid Victoria! Exceeding our $10,000 goal three fold!!!

The idea is simple: $1 buys one pair of socks for someone in need. Throughout September-December we committed to we will match every $5 donation we received through our service department, up to $5000.

And boy were we blown away! The donations just kept coming in. And then more and more and more. The extra $20,000 will be used towards clothing, outerwear, under garments, and other necessities for people in need.

This campaign was started 14 years ago by Michael Bloomfield. In that time, the campaign has brought in over 130,000 pairs of socks worth over $585,000 to the vulnerable population in our region. The socks are made available at a generously discounted price to Cool Aid and shipping is kindly contributed by La-Z-Boy. They aim to distribute 10,000 socks each year.

You can make a donation throughout the year at coolaid.org/socks or by calling 250-383-1977. You can also add a donation to your service bill at KIA Victoria.

In total, we helped raised over $30,000!

VICTORIA NATIVE FRIENDSHIP CENTRE

Throughout June and July, we fundraised for programming at the Victoria Native Friendship Centre by matching every $5 donation we received in our service department. Throughout September, we continued our fundraising efforts by selling Orange Shirt cookies for $5.

Dedicated to improving the quality of life for Indigenous people in the Greater Victoria area, the Victoria Native Friendship Centre began as a meeting place in the city—providing limited referral services to community members. The Centre has become a vital resource for urban Indigenous individuals and families, and is strategically positioned to play a major role in the development and implementation of urban Indigenous governance on southern Vancouver Island.

POWER TO BE

Throughout March, April and May, we were fundraising for a favourite local charity of ours, Power to Be. They are a local non-profit organization that creates access to nature for youth, families, and adults living with cognitive, physical, financial, and social barriers.

Every May they do an amazing adventure-based fundraiser, and this year was no different!

Over the course of 3 days (May 14th – 16th), teams worked together to cumulatively complete the elevation of Mt. Denali at 6190 metres. That's 28 trips up Mount Doug for each team, if anyone is wondering! Racers can gain elevation anywhere - stairs, streets, or local mountains. By the end of the event, teams worked together to virtually summit a peak for a great cause.

The Ostermanns, one of our owners, carried/dragged/coerced their four sons up mountains to raise money for this cause in 2020. Kia Victoria has three teams participating in the Power to Be annual fundraiser in 2021.

In total, we raised over $6600.00!

60 DAYS OF GIVING

We launched a 60 Days of Giving Soul Food Campaign for January and February 2021. Food banks like the Mustard Seed are often forgotten post-holidays but are needed now more than ever.

If you donated $5, we’ll gave you $5 off your service bill. If you donated nonperishable food items, we’ll gave you $5 off your service bill!

We donated $2500 to the Mustard Seed... and drove over 2 Kia Souls FULL TO THE SUNROOF with food!

It was a COVID holiday un-party to remember.
  • 10,000 SOCKS: In December, we jumped on board with a local Coolaid campaign that has raised $562,500 over the past 13 years to provide socks to the most vulnerable in the community. We donated $1500 to this worthy cause.
  • BC SPCA: Thanks to our keen animal lover and sales team member, Isabel Allison, KIA Victoria supported the BC SPCA 2020 Offleashed Virtual Gala. And thanks to her contagious passion, we supported the event with $500 in tickets.
  •  1UP SINGLE PARENT RESOURCE CENTRE: Earlier this year we donated 2 bikes to needy local families valued at over $1200 including helmets and locks.
  • POWER TO SUMMIT / POWER TO BE: We raised a whopping $4791.02 for the Power to Be charity through their Power to Summit fundraiser. Power-To-Be is a local non-profit organization that creates access to nature for people living with cognitive, physical, financial, and social barriers. We're so proud to be a part of their fundraiser.
  • MUSTARD SEED: The food bank is a cause near and dear to our hearts. In the past year, we’ve raised over $3,500 plus three car-loads full of groceries for the Mustard Seed Victoria through our Soul Food Campaign.

KIA Victoria jumped on board with an amazing local charity campaign! This was the start of something really really good... we can feel it!

MONTHLY CHARITY

By now, hopefully you know that we really get a kick out of helping the community. Kia Victoria was thrilled to receive this year’s Community Driver Award for Vancouver Island Region, recognizing meaningful contributions to the growth and livability of their community or region.

And so each month we're choosing a new charity to support. We've raised over $3500 for the Mustard Seed Victoria, plus three car loads full of groceries.

Thanks for your help with this and all our other campaigns! We love Victoria!!

BIKES FOR KIDS

We donated new kids bikes to the 1Up Single Parent Society!! Some deserving local kids got to tear it up this summer. Because all kids deserve the freedom and fun of having their own wheels, especially after the spring we’ve had.

We started it off with the purchase of 2 NEW BIKES with helmets and locks. Then it was up to you, Victoria! Together we made a huge difference in one kid's life.

In total we donated over $1500 worth of bikes and equipment!

COVID-19 COMMUNITY HELP

Since taking over Graham Kia in October 2019, our mandate at has been to help our community in every way we can. Right now, we find ourselves in a position where business is very much affected by the COVID-19 crisis. And so, with many cars begging for a trip off the lot, and many hands with little to do, we have been giving back as best we can during this unprecedented time.

Kia Victoria staff are picking up groceries and prescriptions for people who aren’t able to be out and about, such as those with compromised immune systems, seniors, or health care workers.

To request a grocery or prescription delivery, please contact the dealership at 250-360-1111.

If we can be of any assistance during this time, please do not hesitate to ask.

MUSTARD SEED COVID-19 RELIEF

We have partnered with the Mustard Seed during the COVID-19 crisis to serve those most in need.

Right now service centre customers can donate $5 on their service invoice and KIA Victoria will match it. Those who bring in non-perishable food for the Mustard Seed will receive $5 off their service bill.

Not in need of a service this month? Anyone wishing to contribute can drop off food or donations at the dealership. We are also willing to pick up donations around Victoria for those who can’t leave home but would still like to contribute. Call us at 250-360-111 for collection.
