About the Evening

EV ownership can feel confusing.

This evening makes it simple.

Charging. Battery life. Winter driving. Road trips. Costs. Myths.

We built this event to make EV learning feel easier, calmer, and more honest. Walk through hands-on stations, talk with local EV experts, explore Kia hybrid and electric vehicles, and ask real questions in a relaxed environment to industry experts.

No pressure. Just guidance that helps you figure out what actually fits your life.

What you'll experience

Six relaxed stations. Drop in to whichever ones interest you.

EV Education and Lifestyle Demos

Explore EVs, hybrids, and plug-in hybrids without the pressure of a sales environment. Learn if a hybrid is better for your lifestyle than a full EV. Plus, we’ll have kayaks, camping gear, hockey bags and bikes to see which vehicle actually suits you.

Charging Made Simple

See what charging actually looks like at home and on the road, compare charging speeds, and learn how EV road trips work on Vancouver Island. Practical route planning for Tofino, Nanaimo, Whistler, and Mt. Washington — from people who actually drive these routes.

EV Maintenance & Service

Talk directly with Kia master technicians about battery longevity, winter driving, regenerative braking, and long-term ownership. The bonus? We’ll have a Kia EV9 on a hoist so you can see an EV from a totally different perspective.

Home Charger Installation

Talk with local electrician Russ Gowett to learn all about installation, electrical requirements, cost, and BC Hydro and Fortis BC rebates.

Long-Term Ownership

Battery life and storage, resale, depreciation, extended warranties, rebates — ask us anything!

Relaxed Q&A

Ask anything — no scripts, no pressure, just honest answers from EV experts over coffee.

Giveaways & Refreshments

Including a Level 2 home charger giveaway and other EV-themed prizes throughout the evening.

From Real EV owners

What surprised them most.

“I bought a plug-in hybrid last fall and I barely visit gas stations now. The battery takes care of most of my driving in and around Victoria.” – Leslie W.

“Trips home to the Okanagan took less adjustment than I expected. I top up my charge in Hope and am on the road again in less than half an hour.” – Peter T.

“Charging at home is so convenient, and I’m so glad I never have to head to a gas station again. I just plug it in at home about every 10 days and it’s ready to go in the morning.” – Bethan O.

“The maintenance is much simpler.” – Jack H.

“I can’t get over the power and speed. It’s truly mind-blowing.” Terance B.

Ferries, Tofino getaways, Mt. Washington weekends, and school drop-offs.

We live here too. Our EV conversations are grounded in real Island driving — the routes you actually take, the weather you actually see, and the gear you actually haul.

  • Ferry travel
  • Tofino trips
  • Mt. Washington
  • Daily commutes
  • Hockey & camping gear

FAQs

Honest answers, no fine print.

How long does charging take?

It depends on the charger. A Level 1 plug adds a small amount of range each hour, a Level 2 home charger can charge many EVs overnight, and DC fast chargers along Island highways are designed for shorter road-trip charging stops. We’ll show you what each option actually looks like.

Can I charge at home?

Most Vancouver Island homes can support some form of EV charging. We’ll walk you through Level 1 vs Level 2 charging, panel considerations, installation basics, and options for condos and townhomes.

Do EVs work in winter on Vancouver Island?

Yes. We’ll talk honestly about cold-weather range, regenerative braking on wet roads, and what to expect when driving locally or heading up to Mt. Washington.

What’s the difference between hybrid and EV?

We’ll compare gas, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and full EV options side by side, including who each one tends to fit best. No pressure to pick a side.

Are there rebates available in BC?

Incentives and charger rebates can change over time, so we’ll help you understand what programs may be available and what questions to ask before making a decision.

Can I attend without booking?

Absolutely. RSVPs help us plan refreshments and giveaway draws, but you can drop in anytime between 4:00 and 7:00 PM.

Will there be test drives?

Yes — optional and low-key. Our team can take you out in an EV or hybrid model if you’d like to feel one for yourself.

Is the event free?

Completely free. Refreshments, conversations, demos, and giveaway entries are all on us.

What if I’m not ready to buy?

That’s exactly who this event is for. Most people who attend won’t buy that night — and we’re more than okay with that. Our goal is to be the most trustworthy place on the Island to learn about EVs.

Come explore EV ownership without the pressure.

Whether you’re just starting to explore or already comparing options, this evening is designed to help you feel informed, comfortable, and confident.

No pressure. Just honest guidance.
